Congratulations to Dylan D’Souza who was yesterday presented with the 2019 John Paul College Dux award at the first assembly for 2020 for his outstanding ATAR of 98.40. Dylan studied VCE Units 3 and 4 Physics and Biology in year 11 during 2018 and added English, Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics and Chemistry as his 2019 VCE Unit 3 and 4 subjects. Dylan’s academic achievements include receiving Certificates of Merit and Academic Excellence Awards during each of his years at John Paul College.
His achievement of College Dux, then is the product of his consistent efforts to grow and learn across all subjects during all times in the classroom and with regards to his home studies.
Dylan was committed to his studies and this consistent and determined approach across Years 7 -12 has led to his achievement of these outstanding results for his VCE. He has been dedicated to his own learning and has consistently shown the attributes necessary for success. Dylan’s teachers describe him as a learner with a high level of initiative, inquisitive, curious, someone who asks questions, a person who relates extremely well with teachers and his peers alike, and who is always happy to help others.
Dylan has accepted an offer to study a double degree in Engineering and Biomedical Science at Monash University.
The Year 12 cohort of 2019 achieved some excellent results in their VCE with a median study score of 29 and 4.1% of study scores over 40. Similarly, there were exceptional outcomes for our hard-working VCAL students. These results continues the growth and improvement in academic outcomes at VCE in recent years at John Paul College.
The College wishes all Year 12 students from the class of 2019, who now begin the next phase of their learning and growth beyond school, every success in their chosen pathway.
