Subject Selection and Careers Expo

Subject Selection and Careers Expo

Wednesday 31st July, 3.30pm -7:30pm

All students and families are invited to attend the Subject Selection and Careers Expo.

The Expo is a valuable opportunity for students to explore a wide range of subjects on offer as well as gain advice regarding pathways, tertiary courses and Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses.

The Expo is suitable for students in all year levels with a greater focus for students currently in Years 8 to 12.

Year 8: Investigate Year 9 electives.
Year 9: Investigate Year 10 subjects to ensure you have the background knowledge for VCE or VCAL courses.
Determine if you should accelerate by taking a VCE subject or VET course in your Year 10 program.

Year 10: Research and determine a VCE or VCAL pathway and which subjects to include to ensure you meet prerequisite requirements. Take advantage of any subject adjustments on offer; for university courses.

Year 10, 11 and 12: Speak with tertiary reps to find out which of the Universities and TAFEs to visit during the Open Days in August. Take advantage of the fact that over 15 tertiary providers will be in the one location on the night.

Tertiary providers attending: ACU, Australian Defence Force, Chisholm, Deakin University, Engineers Australia, Federation University Australia, La Trobe University, Melbourne Polytechnic, Monash University, RMIT, Sabrina Russo Group, Swinburne Institute of Technology, Victoria Police, Victoria University and William Angliss Institute.

The following information sessions will also be held in the Donn O’Connor Room:

5:30pm: Planning your pathway – a snapshot for Year 10 2020.
Highly recommended for students currently in Year 9.

This brief presentation will endeavour to provide information to assist both student and parent in making big decisions about VET courses, VCE Unit 1 and 2 subjects and electives.

6:00pm: Vocational Education and Training (VET).
Highly recommended for students currently in Years 9 and 10 who are interested in VET.

This session will provide information about VET course contribution to senior secondary years and the benefits of these programs.

With so many different pathways and subject options available, the Expo is an excellent opportunity for both students and parents to become 'Future Me' ready.

We look forward to seeing you there.
